Keyboards for One Hand Typing

We always suggest you attempt to use the NORMAL keyboard which you will find in 99.99% of every home and workplace. This is called the QWERTY keyboard (see the Q in the upper corner of your keyboard over to the Y). This is a MUST for the child one hand typist, and the best solution of the adults, who still has good use of one hand, but never was a speed touch typist with two hands.
However, a Child Size keyboard is a MUST for young people under 11, those with tiny hands, see sample Child Size Keyboard

But, just as there are many types of normal cars, there are many types of normal keyboads which have some small adaptations that might make typing with one hand easier for you, yet not train you on a keyboard you will never find at work or at play! Any of these three below might be a good solution for the one handed typist.

Other Types of Keyboards

Space Saving Keyboard

(takes up less space on your desk, but distance from Q to P is the same as the standard)

Left Handed Keyboard

(Keypad is on the LEFT side of the keyboard. Really not needed.

We suggest you simply plug in a keypad and put it wherever you like.)

Space Saving Keyboard

A space saving keyboard takes up less room on your desk, but the distance from Q to P is still about 7 1/2 inches.

 

We like this keyboard for the the one hand typist with no use of the less able arm.

Left Handed Keyboard

A one handed typist, using their RIGHT hand to type, might consider a Left Handed keyboard or a keyboard without anything on the RIGHT. You see everything over on that side disappears under the desk if you use a drop down rack.

These come in two types.

One with keypad just as it is on the right, but moved over to the left.

Or, with the keyboard reversed.
